35 Degrees has installed a Heart Start Defibrillator

November 2nd, 2010 by admin

Defib in 35 South

We now have a Heart Start Defibrillator on the premises! These devises are essential to boost the chances of locals and visitors surviving a heart attack. There is also one located in the ASB branch on Williams Road.

18 people die every day in New Zealand as a result of cardiac arrests. Of those, only 6 are in hospital, the other 12 are doing their normal day to day stuff. According to Dr Harvey White (Director of coronary care at Auckalnd City Hospital) those 12 lives could potentially be saved by a defibrillator.  Here at 35 Degrees we actively support our local St John Ambulance and Fire Brigade by fund raising and employing staff who volunteer with both organisations. Having a defibrillator on the premises was a good next step.

These AED’s (Automated external defibrillators) are really simple to use. You switch them on, and an automated voice tells you what to do in three simple, short steps.
